It is considered a normal variant and is often confused for a ventriculus terminalis, a smooth dilated cavity of the central canal, located within the conus medullaris. Webconus level was significantly associated with symptom-atic presentation. Of the 22 patients who presented with possible symptoms, 17 (77%) had a low-lying conus (p < 0.0001). Low conus level had a positive predictive value for symptoms of 27% (17 of 64), but a normal conus lev-el had a negative predictive value for symptoms of 99% (367 of 372).
