The bridge connected Point Pleasant, WV, and Gallipolis, OH, and collapsed during rush hour traffic. WebThe U.S. 35 highway bridge connecting Point Pleasant, West Virginia, and Kanauga, Ohio, collapsed at approximately 5:00 p.m. e. s. t., December 15, 1967. Forty-six persons died in the accident and nine were injured. Two of the 46 persons are still missing. There were 37 vehicles on the bridge at the time of the collapse.
